CHOQUEQUIRAO - VILCABAMBA 16D/15N
 
DAY 1: CUSCO – LIMATAMBO –CACHORA
The pick up will be from the hotel at 8:00am, we will head over to Limatambo, guided visit to the Tarawasi archeological remains, passing through the communities of Conoc, Curahuasi, and Sawite, from this point, we start to descend over to Cachora. Camping and start point of trek.
 

DAY 2: CACHORA – PLAYA ROSALINA
We begin the trek, heading to the Apurimac canyon, passing through the Colmena, Capuliyuc and descending to the Rosalina Beach near the Apurimac River

 

DAY 3: PLAYA ROSALINA – CHOQUEQUIRAO
This day is pretty much tired because we’ll descend at 1.500meters until we reach Choquequirao at 3.000meters passing through the communities of Santa Rosa, Marampata and arriving to our base camp in Raqaypata, very close to the archeological remain of Choquequirao.

 

DAY4: CHOQUEQUIRAO - PINCHIUNUYUC – RIO BLANCO
Guided visit to Choquequirao, we start to trek heading over to Choquequirao at (3.300meters), then we descend to pinchiunuyuc where we can have lunch, from here w ego by the river at 1.800meters place were we’ll set up camp.

 

DAY 5: RIO BLANCO - MINA VICTORIA
The route becomes a bit difficult do to a ascend to the 4.000meters approximately, where one can find the mines of Victoria, near the pass of San Juan, this mine was left behind in the colonial times, from here one can already see the canyon of the Apurimac of the wonders of nature with impressive geographical area.

 

DAY 6: MINAS VICTORIA – YANAMA
The route takes us ascending to Victoria at 4.500meters, where we can see the glaciers like the Salkantay, Corihuaynachina, Humantay being the nearst one,passing through some fertile land and our base camp is near the town of Yanama, a very colorful valley.

 

DAY 7: Yanama - Choquetakarpo – Kelkamachay
Camping at the town of Yanama, we will ascend to the glacier at the pass of Choquetakarpo, the trek is cover by lots of vegetation for the first part of the way, then we can feel the rapid change in weather turning very cold, after passing the highland we’ll start to descend to our base camp.

 

DAY 8: Kelkamachay – Kollpaq
We walk throughout the valley of Kelkamachay, here we can appreciate the range of the Vilcabamba having always in front of us the majestic mountain of Choquetacarpo, that one can even see it from the Vilcabamba trek, the altitude of this part is an average of 3.500 – 3.800meters, after passing all this we arrive to Kollpaq by the afternoon.

 

DAY 9: Kollpaq – Huancacalle
After having breakfast, the place can offered us very majestic scenery of beautiful valleys, after seeing all of this we’ll start to descend to a place named Huancacalle a very important community in this area, this place is also the start point of the vilcabamba trek. Is also a place were we can reload in provisions to continue to the Vilcabamba Valley.

 


DAY 10: Huancacalle -vitcos Ñustahipanan
We’llvisit Vitcos, that is located in the highest part of Huancalle, from here one can see the entire valley of Chaullay and the Vilcabamba River, and then after walking for another hour we arrive to Ñustahispanan, we’ll also have a guided visit to the place to then return to our camp site.

 

DAY 11 WANKAKALLI - QOLLPAQ'ASA
We start trekking incide the archeological remains of Rosaspata o Vitcos, from here one can appreciate Pucyura, just like the glaciar of Pumasillo, then we’ll visit the Ñusta Hispanic, in both places one can appreciate and enjoy the view. Then we head over to Qellpaq’asa place where we’ll set up camp.

 

DAY 12 QOLLPAQ'ASA- UTUTO
We start the head over to the zone of Maukachaka then we keep passing until we arrive to Papaconas, descending to Ututo, here we’ll set up camp, and here we can have also the opportunity of fishing.

 

DAY 13 UTUTO - VISTA ALEGRE
We start the journey descending, where after an hour we can start to see the vegetation of the jungle, the weather starts to change and becomes warm, we can also see the River Pampaconas, here we’ll also have lunch next to the shores of the river, after resting for a while we continue walking until we reach Vista Alegre, here we’ll set up camp.

 

DAY 14: VISTA ALEGRE - CONCEBIDAYOC
After having breakfast, we’ll go inside the valley of Vilcabamba, is very hot area, we arrive to Cruz Q’asa place where we can appreciate lots of vegetation and fauna, like the cock on the rocks, arriving to Tunkimayu to head over to Concebidayoc.

 

DAY 15 CONCEBIDAYOC - ESPIRITU PAMPA
We head over to the ridge of Pampaconas, this path will take us to Espiritu Pampa, also consider like a natural view point, and from this point one can see how the rivers Pampaconas, Chontabamba come together in a triangular shape.

 

DAY 16: ESPIRITUPAMPA – CHIWANKIRI
This makes our last day of trekking, accompanied by a warm weather and sumid, w ego through the Valley of Espiritu Pampa, until we arrive to Chiwankiri, place of the last camp

 
DAY 17 CHIWANKIRI - KITENI - CUSCO
The last of the journey is all done by land, the bus will take us to Kiteni, and we’ll travel the Valley of Lares, passing through Amaraes, Calca to finally arrive to Cusco city
