Terrestrial Route: Diverse highways communicate to the Cusco with different cities of the country. Starting off of Lima, the most recommendable route is the South Pan-American highway until Arequipa and soon to the Cusco (1 659 km or 28 hours of trip, approx). The other route, non recommendable at time of rains, is by the mountain range, via Ayacucho and Abancay (direct way).

Aerial Route: There are daily flights to the city of the Cusco from Lima and other cities of the country. The airport Velasco Astete is to 3 km of the city and has services of taxis and omnibus.

Domestic Flights: are a very important part of the tourism in Peru and we have four air companies which run all these daily flights, from Cusco we only have three destines which are: Lima-Cusco, Arequipa-Cusco, Puerto Maldonado-Cusco.
International Flights: The only direct flight to Cusco is from La Paz, Bolivia, the rest of the international flights normally arrive to Lima and then usually adomestic flight conection is made.

Railroad: A daily service of train exists from Arequipa, via Juliaca (Puno), with approximately 20 hours hours of trip. From Puno they are 10 hours. The highest point of this route is the Ray to 4 313 msnm between Cusco and Juliaca.

To get to Machu Picchu, the visitor must travel by direct train to Aguas Calientes and from there, board any of the buses provided by the six different agencies which cover the route up to the citadel. Travel Agencies Peru,
